Indy Comic Book Day is Tomorrow

Tue Dec 29, 2009, 1:44 AM
Wednesday, Dec. 30th is Indy Comic Book Day. Here’s what you need to know:

Tons of new books from independent creators, including me, will be on sale in participating comic shops all over the country. For a list of participating stores, go here: [link]

My book is called “What Planet Is This,” it’s a 20 page one-shot full color comic about a space detective having a really bad day. Call it a Sci-Fi crime-noir Comedy. You can see the cover is my current featured deviation, and in my gallery there's some preview pages.

I will be appearing at Keith’s Comics North Dallas from 12:30-2. It’s in Carrollton, TX (just north of Dallas) on the Northeast corner of Trinity Mills and Midway. Come say hi, pick up copies of the book, I’ll sign them and maybe do some sketches. Their website it here: [link]

Here’s a list of all the stores that are carrying my book (other than Keith’s), so feel free to stop by if you’re near one:

Of course, as always. I just read your journal about art education as well, thanks so much for posting that. I had a similar experience in high school that made me give up art for about 5 years, and I feel like I'm constantly making up for lost time. I ended up going to UNT for music (instead of art as I originally wanted) which might have been the better choice, from the sound of it.

I completely agree with you about talent being a mostly useless word. When people tell me I'm 'talented' at music, I just chuckle and say that the only reason I'm good is because I practiced for 6 hours a day for 4 years straight. Art and music are learnable skills. Now I'm trying to put the time and energy into re-learning drawing technique. Anyway, thanks for telling your story, it was very encouraging!
