Once again, it's time to head down to Austin for the Staple! Independent Media Expo!

If you're in the area, come say hi on Saturday, March 6th! I've got plenty of new books and prints for sale, and as always, I'm happy to do some sketches.

There's a ton of other great artists scheduled to appear, so check it out, all the info you need is here: staple-austin.org/

See ya there!

Of course, as always. I just read your journal about art education as well, thanks so much for posting that. I had a similar experience in high school that made me give up art for about 5 years, and I feel like I'm constantly making up for lost time. I ended up going to UNT for music (instead of art as I originally wanted) which might have been the better choice, from the sound of it.

I completely agree with you about talent being a mostly useless word. When people tell me I'm 'talented' at music, I just chuckle and say that the only reason I'm good is because I practiced for 6 hours a day for 4 years straight. Art and music are learnable skills. Now I'm trying to put the time and energy into re-learning drawing technique. Anyway, thanks for telling your story, it was very encouraging!
